Root Cause of Congestive Heart Failure

The present day lifestyle has given mankind a lot of amenities such as tap water, remote control of electrical devices like televisions, fans, lights and cleaning utensils. This has resulted in a sedentary lifestyle and no physical exercise starting from waking up in a morning till going to bed at night. There is fierce competition in each and every field adding to the absence of peace of mind, stress, fear of failure and depression. Environmental factors such as lack of trees, air pollution, traffic congestion, absence of recreational parks where people walk and exercise and lack of sports activity in schools and introduction of mobile games to children have resulted in a heart-related sedentary lifestyle and absence of physical activities.

Congestive Heart Failure is a chronic heart condition where there is a fluid build-up around the heart or fatty deposits in the arteries that narrow the width of the arteries, causing the heart to pump ineffectively and reduce blood flow which ends up in heart attack.  It is observed that people of age 65 and above and those with family history of heart disease have higher risk of heart failure. Congestive heart failure can occur mainly due to high blood pressure, previous heart attack or coronary artery disease.  In addition to sedentary lifestyle, smoking and excessive alcohol consumption, high blood pressure, lack of exercise, and absence of sodium and omega-3 fatty acid in diet can cause Congestive Heart Failure.

Symptoms of Congestive Heart Failure

The initial signs or symptoms a person with Congestive Heart Failure can experience is swollen legs, an irregular heartbeat, trouble breathing, fluid build-up in the lungs, high blood pressure, a hereditary heart problem, heart valve problem, diabetes, stress and being overweight or obese. In new-born babies and children symptoms like swollen hands, feet, stomach and eyes is a reason of the born with congestive heart disease which has a problem before their birth. 

The symptoms in children can be difficulty in drinking and eating, lack of hunger, vomiting, getting tired after a small meal and sleeping more than average, in such cases one should immediately take their child to a doctor. You may observe crankiness, tiredness, sweating more than normal, fast breathing patterns and discoloring of nails, hands and legs – these are emergency alerts when you should seek medical help immediately.

Treatment for Congestive Heart Failure

Medicines that remove extra fluid from the lungs and arteries which are urine stimulating are used for treating Congestive Heart disease. Angiotensin converting enzymes (ACE) are used in medicines to cure Congestive Heart disorder.  Enalapril (Vasotec) and lisinopril (Prinivil, Zestril) are ACE inhibitors that promote dilation of blood vessels thereby improving blood flow, reducing blood pressure and thereby helping control blood in arteries.

Losing weight with regular exercise, low sodium and fat in the diet, a stress-free lifestyle, avoid smoking and drinking will benefit congestive heart disease.
