The human digestive system comprises of mouth, throat, esophagus, stomach, small and large intestines, rectum and anus. The stomach is surrounded by liver, pancreas and gallbladder. Liver has size of a football and is situated below rib cage on the right side of the abdomen.

Liver in human digestive system plays as an excellent filtering medium to detoxify and remove the harmful substance from the blood that travels from stomach and intestine and absorbs nutrients from the food we eat. It produces bile, cholesterol, and hormones. Liver helps in fats, proteins and carbohydrate metabolism. Liver stores vitamins, minerals and glycogen and activates enzymes. Plasma protein, albumin and clotting factors are added to our blood due to liver.

Liver adds a lot of value to so many organs and enhances digestion and metabolism for entire body, it is essential to protect it from viruses, chemicals and infections or impurities from water. Liver may get affected temporarily or permanently due to inherited diseases. Our body cannot absorb nutrients, digest food, get rid of toxic substances from blood, remain healthy and loose energy and ultimately cannot stay alive.
